Many have heard the saying, "you are what you eat." However we only assumed this had everything to do with what we put into our mouths. You are what you eat goes beyond that slice of pizza on your plate. Think about what you ingest mentally on a daily basis. What do you engage with? Now this isn't to say you can't or shouldn't enjoy life, but think about the environments you spend most of your time and how that is effecting you. Please also be honest, lying to yourself does not affect me non but instead holds you back in development.

When embarking on your spiritually journey, what you consume is what separates us. It separates the ascetically pleasing spiritualists from those who are deeply in the waters. Now this isn't to say you can't enjoy yourself in the mundane. The further in the water [spiritual realm] you get, the surface begins to appear as an illusion. WTF DOES THAT MEAN?! One day I will answer that, but for now I want you to meditate on it.

When it comes to spirituality there are a lot of learning and unlearning that happens. The learning includes learning yourself. You may think you know yourself pretty well but do you really? Do you know why are the way you are? Do you know what you are here to contribute in this lifetime? These answers don't come instantly, you must put in the work for it to be revealed. Unlearning can in most cases be more simpler. You are unlearning what was once deemed as evil. Unlearning behavior and/or beliefs that are unsupportive to not only your life, but the world around you.

You are what you eat. Think about what it is you want out of life. Are the things you are engaging in supportive? What you actually eat does energetically affect you on various levels. However let's look at what feeds your mind. I want to point out before continuing the mind, body, and soul work together. When one is not performing well, the other two can't perform at optimum level. Think of gears.

Spirituality involves a lot of study, despite what you may have heard or thought. Spirituality is work. You may not be reading out of a book but you are a student to life, spirit, nature and so-on. You study yourself and work on mastery. When you choose to embark on your spiritual journey, it will only be as hard as you make it. In spirituality you will be faced with truth. Truth about yourself and this is what scares most away. This is when people begin to say it's evil and full of demons. Sweetheart I'm here to say, they saw themselves. They say the ugly truth about themselves because everyone would like to believe they are a "good person". They would like to believe they don't have a wicked bone in their body.

wick·ed

/ˈwikəd/

adjective

  1. evil or morally wrong.

mor·al·ly

/ˈmôrəlē/

adverb

adverb: morally

  1. with reference to the principles of right and wrong behavior.

When you start to peel back the layers of discovering who you are, you start to see all aspects of yourself; the good, bad, and the ugly. The further in the water [spiritual realm] you get, the surface begins to appear as an illusion. You start to see you possibly weren't living life authentically. Your environment was possibly a lie. You begin to see what is behind the mask that others wear and what is truly being feed to people. Think of the movies like "They Live" or "Truman Show" just to name a few. This is how deep you can get into spirituality and how it can reveal truths. Not everyone gets that far into it and thats okay, simply because it's not for everyone. Some folks are already in spiritual psychosis and reaching the level or seeing truths beyond our realm would send them over the edge. Regardless of the level you are, begin to practice mindfulness. Be mindful of what you consume:

  • The music you regularly listen to

  • Shows/Movies you watch

  • Places you frequent

  • Books you read

  • Food and drink you consume

  • Etc.

All these things and more plays apart in the experience you have while here on earth.
